EDGAR I. FARLEY, JR.
22 MARCH 1919-29 APRIL1970
Edgar I. Farley, 51, 12391 Mayfield Rd. Munson Township, died Thursday of an apparent heart attack. But his death didn't go by unnoticed by many of us who knew him.
Mr. Farley owned and operated "Farley's Country Store" on Rt.44 and Rt.322 for over 20 years.
The store was unique. It was one of the few old 'country store' styled independents left in this changing world of automation. Amish gifts and goodies were part of the background that made Farley's Store a delight to visit.
How handy the store store was to the nearby residents to have open on Sunday's and during the late hours of the evening.
A family touch of togetherness was always evident as Edgar's wife Florence and the children waited on the passing trade. Many of us looked for the stores cheery lights to be on when we needed a missing household item, or a tank of gas when the petrol supply was diminishing in the late hours.
Untold hundreds of us in the Munson area will miss Mr. Farley. Many will be the days we will recall when passing by the store seeing Mr. Farley sitting on the swing out front ready to serve the passing populace. The scene may change but our memories won't.
(Carol's note: It could not be said any better.....that was my Dad)
