WEDDING DAY
1 JUNE 1943
FLORENCE AND ED FARLEY
This photo was taken on the hill behind the gas station across the road from the store...Vows were exchanged in Chesterland Ohio about 6 miles from home. Rev. Patton officiated. Aunt Kathryn (nee Farley) and Uncle Frank Davis witnessed the scene. A very large wedding cake was served in the store for all friends and neighbors. World War II was holding everyone on edge wondering who would be coming home and who would not from the neighborhood. This was how Mom and Dad wanted to celebrate their big day with friends and family at home.
Mom's wool blue suit is in the attic. As well as many wedding gifts never used . Mom and Dad were waiting for a larger house so they could entertain and use the gifts. .....did not happen.
The cake top is also in the attic with all the cards of well wishes for the happy couple.
You have me sitting on the edge of my chair wondering what happened next?? And how precious to still have those things in the attic. That rarely happens any more. Tell us more, Carol :)
